AGARTALA, January 7 (TIWN): Confessing that the irregularities under the centrally sponsored schemes prevails in few places in Tripura, MP Jitendra Chowdhury said that it is nothing exceptional as it often takes place in other parts of the country. “But the irregularities here in Tripura are being shown in a giant shape, whereas the water is still getting dirty inspite of several legal steps taken by the state govt.”, said Chowdhury. However, Recently talking to the media persons opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman Barman talking tough on Tripura corruption said that the left front govt. has brought bad days for the poor people of the state through corruptions and scams under the rule of the Left front govt. He claimed that massive financial transparency under the centrally sponsored MGNREGA here in Tripura has lead the central govt. to curtail fund.Asked about the reason for the dilution of the MGNREGA fund here in Tripura by the center, Mr. Chowdhury said that the central govt. by diluting the fund has deprived the poor people of the state at large.

“We the three MPs of the state has met the union minister for the restoration of the fund and the state govt. had has written to the center several times for the same, but the Modi-govt. has walked on its own way”, said Chowdhury.

On an exclusive talk with TIWN, Tripura MP Jitendra Chowdhury agreed that the irregularities under the centrally sponsored scheme are prevailing in few places in Tripura.

He also said that “if corruption and irregularities under the centrally sponsored schemes stands as the main reason for the curtailment of the fund than I must say that corruptions and irregularities are often occurring at other parts of the country therefore there is no need to make the water dirty here, despite the state govt. here has taken legal steps against it”. He said that the irregularities here in Tripura are being shown into a giant shape.

It is mentionable here that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar during the party dharna at Delhi Jantar Mantar ground launching a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led government for its "anti-poor" policies, he said the Centre is trying to dilute rural job scheme MGNREGA through various routes including significant curtailing of funds. Sarkar, a CPI (M) Polit Bureau member, said Tripura has been given Rs 650 crore in the form of central assistance to MGNREGA in the financial year 2014-15, although the budget allocation was to the tune of Rs 1,400 crore.

The Tripura chief minister sought to play down his role in leading the dharna, saying that he was merely showing his solidarity with the poor.

But it is to be mentioned here that when on one hand Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has been laying stress to withdraw the fund curtailment for the save of the poor people, on the other Manik’s officers remained much busy looting money from the poor people.
