West District Magistrate Announced 'COVI | AGARTALA, May 16 (TIWN): West District Magistrate(DM) Raval Hamendra Kumar on Sunday announced 'Covid Curfew' from May 17 to May 26. In an order, the DM cleared stated, "No person shall go out of their homes or shall move on foot or by vehicle or travel or roam around any road of public places during the above mentioned hours except for essential and emergency needs". After the announcement, Law Minister Ratanlal Nath held a press meet and confirmed the 'Covid-Curfew'. He said that Agartala has 1.20 families but the situation is going out of control, so this "curfew" decision has been taken. "I request all sections of people including political leaders of all parties to cooperate to control Covid. West Tripura Dist DM Orders 'Corona Curf | AGARTALA, May 16 (TIWN): West District Magistrate Raval Hamendra Kumar has ordered 'Corona Curfew' for 10 days in the AMC areas. In an order No.F. 4/DM/W/JDL/(11) Vol-lV/2013/103 dated 15/05/2021, the DM stated, "Whereas, the COVID-19, in its 2nd wave, is spreading very rapidly throughout the country. In Tripura, new cases of COVID-19 are also being detected every day in increasing numbers. The majority of the cases are in Agartala Municipal Corporation area (AMC). The matter has been reflected in the order of the Chief Secretary, Government of Tripura vide Order No. dated, 3 rd May, 2021............I, Shri Raval Hamendra Kumar, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura District, am fully satisfied that immediate prevention and speedy remedy is desirable and that there is sufficient ground for imposing Corona Curfew restricting movement in AMC area of West Tripura District to prevent danger to Public health & human lives. Now therefore, I, Shri Raval Hamendra Kumar, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura District in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Section 144 Cr. In a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 12 Opposition parties have urged the government to immediately begin a free, universal mass vaccination campaign across the country as the COVID-19 pandemic has “assumed unprecedented dimensions of a human catastrophe". This is the second joint letter by the opposition parties in less than ten-days to the government. In an earlier letter on May 3rd, the parties had asked the government to ensure uninterrupted supply of medical oxygen and free vaccinations. The signatories of the letter include Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee, M K Stalin, Uddhav Thackeray and Hemant Soren.
