BISHALGARH, May 13 (TIWN): When the whole world is functioning with "Work from Home'' condition due to Covid-19, in Tripura people are protesting after a 1 week long power cut. Frequent power cuts in Tripura are very common, but the long time power disruption hit normal livelihood. The daily life of the citizens in the state has been affected due to frequent power cuts.
Sometimes the disturbance of power lasts for a long week. Such a scene was captured at Bishalgarh area under Aravindanagar Panchayat, it was claimed that Aravinda Panchayat’s people are living without electricity for the last seven days.
Talking to the local villagers, it is known, there is no electricity in the Arvindnagar panchayat area for the last seven days, which has led to various problems. It was alleged due to power disruption for seven long days in the Arvindnagar area villagers are facing extreme shortage of water.
Villagers said the transformer has been damaged for seven days in Mollapara area and it was informed to Panchayat members including the Bishalgarh, Jangalia Electricity Department. The Power Department’s staff came and checked the transformer but they did not take initiative to repair the transformer, villagers alleged. Besides this, the Muslims community are also facing severe problems during the month of Ramadan.
On Wednesday, Villagers gathered and protested on demand of repairing the transformer at Aravinda area, Bishalgar immediately.
Villagers also said if the transformer is not fixed within tomorrow then they will block the NH road and also go for a massive protest.
