Altogether, there are 274 village areas where the people are facing difficulty due to the low voltage, according to the official report.However, the places which are mostly affected due to with low voltage are- Mohanpur Division where 23 village areas are facing the problem of low voltage. Law enforcement agencies, especially paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), have been instructed to be on high alert to check smuggling of rawhide of sacrificial animals to India across the international border.In a high-level meeting on Sunday in capital Dhaka before Eid-ul-Azha (festival of animal sacrifice), all the relevant law enforcement agencies were given the instruction, Xinhua news agency reported.Officials say the instruction has been given against the backdrop of hide smuggling to India every year after Eid-ul-Azha when more than 42 percent hides are collected in Bangladesh.Bangladesh tanners are hoping to procure six million pieces of rawhide after this year's Eid-ul-Azha which falls on or before September 25."We have instructed law enforcers including BGB to remain on highest alert along the frontiers so that not a single hide is smuggled out from the country this year," Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.Bangladesh tanners often allege some outsider businessmen procure rawhide through their local agents at an exorbitant rate to smuggle out the same to India instead of selling these in local markets."We are pledge-bound to prevent hide smuggling during this Eid occasion," Kamal said. | 30-Aug-2015 |

As per long manifesto, proposed Urea plant supposed to provide at least 10,000 employments to Tripura people as well as railway connectivity to that region. But after signing the MoU, Tripura Govt. started delaying work, by saying that if these lands are taken away from farmers, it would cease their livelihoods. Ganadoot Triple Murder Case: hearing of | AGARTALA, August 28 (TIWN): Bail plea hearing for the Ganadoot triple murder case against accused Sushil Chowdhury completed on Friday, the judgement of the plea is yet to be announced.Talking to TIWN correspondent, Chowdhury’s lawyer Pijush Kanti Biswas said that the hearing is complete at the court and now waiting for the final judgement. Adding to his comment he also said that the judgement will take time.However, it is to be mentioned that the Tripura High Court on August 2 postponed the bail plea hearing of Gandoot triple murder case to August 27 this year.This is for the fourth time that the Ganadoot triple murder accused Sushil Chowdhury has been produced before Tripura High Court with bail plea on August 27.The HC under the division bench of Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Subhashish Talapatra, however sat for the final hearing on the bail plea of mastermind Sushil Chowdhury on August 27 who was earlier sentenced to life term imprisonment by the lower court for his involvement in the murder case of at least three staffs at Ganadoot daily local office.As the hearing was not completed on August 27, he was again produced before the court on Friday. The PP continued his argument following which the court has heard the Sushil’s bail plea. Agartala makes entry into 98 'Smart Cit | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, August 28 (TIWN): In a move aimed at enhancing the quality of urban life, the government on Thursday unveiled a list of 98 cities in the country for the Smart City Mission.The central government proposes to give financial support to the extent of Rs.48,000 crore to these cities over the next five years, Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said in New Delhi. Naidu said a population of 13 crore across these cities will be covered under the initiative "Smart cities need smart people. We need people's cooperation to move forward in our mission. Making them smart will make them engines of economic growth besides giving decent life to the citizens," Naidu added. Cities include 24 capitals of states and union territories. Smart City concept needs efficient use of IT (Information Technology). However Tripura's biggest obstacle is not Central Govt funding, but backward thinking of IT illiterate Chief Minister and other Cabinet Ministers, whose sole objective is avoiding Information Technology, creation of IT Industry in Tripura. Neither CM Manik Sarkar or IT & Industry Minister Tapan Chakraborty learnt any basic use of computers or even communication via emails,social networks like Facebook,Twitter which even now-a-days school children use daily.
