AGARTALA, August 29 (TIWN): In wake of the commencement of the scheduled mega block Broad Gauge (BG) conversion work demanded were placed to resume the Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) bus services aiming to facilitate the passengers of state. The Mega Block work is scheduled to start from October 1 and the train services in Agartala sector will be suspended till its completion.

Since after the commencement of the railway network in the northeastern states of Tripura, it had captured a large portion of the communication system of the state especially the people of North, Unakoti and Dhalai District of the state depends entirely on trains for communication.

From October 1, people of the three dictricts especially will be cut off from the train services in view of getting BG lines after the mega block conversion work is completed.

However in wake of this a demand has been placed to resume the once functional TRTC services which are currently paralysed.

The TRTC services used to be the only way for communication services between Agartala and other sub-divisions.

TRTC services were available for communication with district headquarters but currently the service is being halted for some unspecific reason.

The Tripura government is also worried over transportation of essential commodities from outside to the landlocked state during a six-month-long mega block of train services along the Lumding-Agartala route due to gauge conversion works.
