SBI ATM loot: State police seeks intervention from Assam police to detain the absconding 2 robbers

AGARTALA, August 28 (TIWN): A.D Nagar Police on Friday produced the five detained robbers before the court demanding for Jail Custody for further interogation in connection to the incident of the stolen Automated Teller Machine (ATM) which has been lifted and looted from Beltali ATM kiosk under A.D.Nagar police station on August 18 midnight.Earlier, the five robbers were given five days of remand and later for three days. Now at the end of three days of remand, A.D Nagar police on Friday produced them before the court demanding for jail custody.Talking to TIWN correspondent on Friday Partha Nath Bhowmikf, I/O of the case said that representatives of the state police, lead by Officer In-charge Soumen Das went to Assam seeking for help from the Assam police in connection with the incident as the police is suspecting that the two absconding miscreants has managed to fled to Guwahati. Police is yet in dark and failed to arrest the 2 more absconding culprits related to the theft case.However, A.D Nagar police has successfully detained the five hi-tech robbers looted an ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) on 18 August night from Agartala Arundhutinagar Beltoli area under A.D Nagar police station.According to the police, the robbers came in van bearing number AS6928 and thronged into the ATM counter.The arrested accused are identified as Shahjahan Ali (23), Ajnor Ali (32), and Ranjan Das (18) Amar Rudra Pal of A.D.nagar and police has also nabbed one Prabal Dey for carrying out the process of breaking the lock of the ATM machine in his wielding shop at Aralaia on the night of the incident.

It is to be mentined, the A.D. Nagar police on August 20 morning recovered the stolen Automated Teller Machine (ATM) from the Howrah River under west Tripura in Ranir Bazar Ghoramara area which was stolen by the robbers on Tuesday late night.

However, according to the locals the miscreants at first tried to break the lock of the SBI ATM failing to break it the miscreants eloped with the entire ATM of SBI.

The miscreants managed to flee with around Rs. 20 lakh of money in the ATM from the adjust area of the A.D Nagar police station.

Most of the time it is found that most of the ATM’s remains guard less and the CCTV installed in the counter remains non-functional.

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guideline, it is a mandatory for all banks to provide a security guard, CCTV camera and trigger alarms at all ATMs. However, most of the ATMs don’t have a security guard and CCTV cameras.

According to the police official, the ATM robbery took place under the cover of darkness.

However, the seven robbers the executed their plan and thronged into ATM counter by taking advantage of the darkness. He further said that the robbery was a well thought out plan as the robbers came equipped with all the tools required to carry out the robbery.

However, A. D Nagar police on Thursday went to Assam seeking help from the Assam Police to find out the 2 absconding miscreants.
