AGARTALA, August 29 (TIWN): Indo-German Development Cooperation Project on Saturday organized a Media workshop in association with Agartala Press Club at the Press Club.

Appreciating the workshop on empowering the ecosystem people for poverty alleviation through Natural Resource Management, Green Economy and Climate change adaptation and Mitigation, Information and Cultural Affair Minister Bhanu lal Saha said that it is a good initiative taken by the Indo-German Development Cooperation Project and the Agartala Press Club.

The workshop mainly focuses on challenges, options and opportunities with regards to promotion of the Ecosystem People for poverty alleviation through Natural Resources Management, Green Economy and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.

The initiatives taken under the IGDC Project in this reference has been highlighted to replicate it across the North East region.

The objective of the media workshop is to provide updates scientific information on environmental issues, particularly with regards to empowering the Ecosystem for poverty alleviation through natural resource management.

In order to boost the natural resource conditions and supporting the enhanced livelihood of the forest dependent communities, the project entitled Participatory Natural Resource Management in Tripura (PNRMT) was incepted in the year 2009.

The project aims at the socio-economic development of tribal shifting cultivators, and conservation of natural resources in the state.

To influence and repeat the outstanding gains made under the project, the IGDC Project has been extended up to March 2017.

However, to gather the information of IGDC project implemented in several spots of Dhalai district, a group of media persons, as part of the media workshop “Empowering the ecosystem people for poverty alleviation through natural resources management, green economy and climate change adaption and mitigation”, organized by IGDC project Tripura in association with Agartala Press Club visited on August 26 last.
