CPI-M’s blue print to recruit par | AGARTALA, July 14 (TIWN): In an attempt to dominate the state secretariat in the party line, the state cabinet is going ahead with its plan to bring the recruitment procedure of the secretariat staffs under the GA (SA) Dept. in place Tripura Public Service Commission.According to sources in the state secretariat, the state cabinet which is scheduled to hold its meeting on Tuesday will give its node to replace the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) in the recruitment of the secretariat staffs in the State Secretariat.It may be mentioned here that the majority of the secretariat staffs belong to the opposition camp and the ruling CPI-M’s support base in the state secretariat is weaker than the opposition supporters. Navigability of Howrah and Gomati river: | AGARTALA, July 14 (TIWN): The State government issued work order in favour of M/s RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service) Ltd for preparation of two DPR to develop navigability of Howrah river and Gomati River for hassle free and cost effective transportation of passengers and goods to boost economic activities in the state in consultation and with funding received from Union Ministry of Shipping , civil secretariat sources said.Two draft DPR –one for development of Howrah river as waterways at an estimated cost of Rs 11,19,15,000 and another for development of Gomati river at an estimated project cost of Rs 12,58,78,300 have been prepared and submitted to the state government. Draft DPRs prepared by RITES were sent to Ministry of Shipping, but the ministry has asked for some clarifications. Subsequently, it was requested to the RITES to revise both the DPRs in the light of clarification of the miistyr of shipping. BSNL denies mobile tower radiation, says | AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): Following the controversy erupted with the concept of mobile tower radiation and its harmful effects, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) NE-I Circle Chief General Manager (CGM) D. P. Singh on Monday said that mobile tower radiation offers no adverse health and environmental effects in India or any other parts of the country. “The committee constituted by the Government of India in 2013 had proved that the radiations from mobile towers have not adverse heath or ecological effects,†D. P. Singh told reporters. He said: "India's stringent measures against radiations from mobile phones or Base Tower Stations (BTS) are ten times more than the USA and European countries."According to the officer, for the past 10 years the researches were conducted on this issue to trace if the radiations from the mobile tower have adverse effect on human health. He said that in 2010 Bombay IIT Professor Girish Kumar who heads the Electrical Engineering department at the university conducting a research said that the mobile tower radiations are dangerous for health. DoT constituted the committee, comprising experts from scientific, medical and research organisations, in January 10, 2012 directive by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The court was hearing a writ petition on issues related to electro-magnetic field (EMF) radiations. Tripura prepares to export 100 MW power | AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): Getting a nod from the Central Government, Tripura Left front Government has been preparing to dispatch 100 Mega Watt (MW) of power to neighboring country Bangladesh with an aim to strengthen the bi-lateral ties. Transmission of 100 MW of power from Tripura to neighboring country Bangladesh will begin next year, an official said on Monday. According to the official, the state is yet to decide from which of its source the power would be dispatched to Bangladesh’s Comilla District. The official said, “If everything falls in right track then we would be able to dispatch the power transmission to Bangladesh from 2016.†He said “We also have to search for our source from which the power would be dispatched to Bangladesh.†The National Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC, will fix the tariff of power, the official said. According to the master plan the power would be dispatched from Tripura Suryamaninagar, to Comilla District of Bangladesh via Bishalgarh Sepahijala District. Sixty five transmission towers are being erected by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd for transmission of power. Besides, according to the sources Palatana OTPC power plant is also eyeing forward to extend its power generation with the state government planning further to dispatch the 100 MW of power for the plant. | 13-Jul-2015 |
Tripura to reinforce ban on plastic carr | AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): To reinforce the ban on plastic carry bags in the state by January 2016, Science, Technology and Environment department minister Bijita Nath on Monday said after holding meeting with Tripura State pollution control board at Birchandra state Library. Nath said though the state government has imposed a total ban on the manufacture, import, storage and sale of plastic bags in view of its harmful affect on the environment, thin plastic bags are yet in use throughout the state due to some mysterious reasons. More awareness program are to be organized, all schools are required to generate awareness in the localities on Sundays and holidays. More advertisements is to be issued in newspapers and television channels, she said. Minister Bijita Nath further urged the police official to conduct frequent raids for curbing the use of plastic bags in the markets. The government of Tripura issued ban on plastic carry bags up to the thickness of 40 micron in January 2014 but even after the order the use of plastic bag is still continued in the state. However, DSP (Central) Rajendra Datta pointed that strict vigilance are to be taken at Churaibari and Akhaura Check post to restrict imports of plastic carry bags. India's 3rd International Internet Gatew | AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): Agartala is all set to become the third international gateway for internet service linking Bangladesh Cox Bazar, with the central government would spend Rs. 19.14 crore to create the infrastructure, including laying of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) to avail the 10 gigabit bandwidth from Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL), BSNL official said.According to the official, currently the work for laying the optical fibre cable is in progress and the engineers are actively engaged with the work for early completion of the entire project.The official said that the service linking Bangladesh with Agartala via Akhaura which would be the centre point to the international internet gateway for the rest of the country after Chennai and Mumbai is expected to be commissioned by 2016.“India had to give around Rs. 7.2 crore per year as rental fee to BSCCL to avail the telecommunication linkages,†said BSNL Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) Anupam Shrivastava.Besides, BSNL NE-I Circle Chief General Manager (CGM) D. P. Singh said, “After more than four years of diplomatic and political parleys, the deal was signed between BSCCL and BSNL. Union Telecom Minister rubbishes Tripura | AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar blamed Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) authority for using obsolete materials and accessories here in the state, which had ultimately lowered the telecom services. A serious allegation has come out following the complaint of locals here. He said, “The whole world would now depend on Tripura which is getting connected with international gateway for internet service with Bangladesh.†Sarkar was addressing his key note during the launching programme of Agartala-Bangladesh telecom connectivity via Agartala Akhaura. Sarkar blaming the BSNL authority said, “The obsolete items which are not used in other parts of the country are being used here in Tripura and as result the telecom service here has deteriorated.†Adding to that Sarkar said that the state government had been receiving several complaints for the past many years against BSNL over using all kinds of obsolete materials. As per the plan, the project which is producing six/seven MW power is expected to generate 10/12 MW power after implementation of the renovation plan. The TSECL have signed an agreement with NEEPCO for up gradation of the hydro project. Recently, engineers of NEEPCO visited the site.
