AGARTALA, July 14 (TIWN): On yet another push by the Tripura High Court, Agartala Government Medical College’s (AGMC) medical counseling board was ruled out on Monday to provide the Agri B.SC seat to the candidate who was deprived by the board with the irregularity prevails in student counseling at AGMC.
The deprived medical candidate Subham Sarkar, resident of Belonia by means of his petition to the HC had prayed for quashing the selection process and selection list of June 28, 2015 prepared by the medical board of AGMC (respondents) and also for directing the respondents to select him for admission in B.SC (Agri.) with experimental learning programme in Tea Husbandry and Technology Course.
However, on Monday hearing the Writ Petition Chief Justice Deepak Gupta ruled out the concerned authority of the medical board to offer the seat which has been cancelled for Shubham.
The Directorate of the Department of Industries and Commerce invited applicants for recommending names to fill up 5 seats in B.Sc (Agri.)
These five seats are to be sponsored by the state government and they were to be sponsored on merit. The department had later prepared the merit list where the petitioner Shubham Sarkar was shown to be at Sl. No. 24 having 66.63 per cent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) group.
But while placing the petition the deprived candidate stated that his percentage is 86.66 per cent and he would be in the merit list No.1.
However it is worthy to mention here that the HC on July 2 this year issued a show cause notice to the state government seeking reply on ruling “No Admission” to MBBS student here at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC).
