AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): To cater the needs of rural Tripura, nine more fire stations would be opened this year amongst which 1 had already been opened at Raishyabari area, said senior police officer on Sunday.
Besides, to combat the giant fire incidents across the state, Tripura Left front government managed to procure a total of 4 multi-purpose fire tenders amongst which 1 is currently under operation here in Agartala whereas the rest 3 were made operational on other major districts of the state as per the priority basis, the officer said to TIWN.
Officer also said that during the year 2012 the state government had purchased some special hydrolic fire engines.
Recently the state government has brought seven more fire engines here in Agartala. Officer said 2 years back that the state was having only 57 fire tenders whereas during these two years another 45 were brought with the total figure rested at 102 and among which some are out of service and needs to be replaced, he said.
“Earlier the state government had urban oriented planning but now we are focusing on the rural Tripura,” officer said to TIWN on Sunday.
The works for the upgradation of fire service training centre with modern machineries and equipments have also been undertaken.
