AGARTALA, May 25 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday inaugurated the housing complex at Agartala Radhanagar, an ambitious project taken by the Left front govt. funded by Central Govt here in Tripura with an aim to make the state slum free.
The project was entirely funded by Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MoHUPA) to house 192 slum residents at Radhanagar. The National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) was entrusted to take up the construction work.
The G+3 buildings covering 30.41 SQM for the slum residents were built with a cost of Rs. 2377.29 lakhs. However, out of 192 dwelling units a total of 128 have been constructed so fare with the residents had already occupied the house.
Each building has been accommodated with a drawing room of 9.00 SQM, bedroom of 5.98 SQM, Kitchen of 2.40 SQM and Bathroom cum toilet covering 1.60 SQM.
The Municipal Corporation has been assigned for the completion of the work of construction of another flats at Joynagar which is also been proposed under the housing project. A total of 192 flats have been constructed with an aim to achieve a slum-free Tripura in phased manner.
Maintaining the legal procedure the distribution of flats to their respective owners has already started and would be completed by June first week, said Minister Manik Dey earlier..
The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has already prepared a Slum Free City (SFC) Action Plan to develop basic amenities and other facilities in the recognized slum areas of the city.
However, during the inauguration programme on Monday, Urban development Minister Manik Dey, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha along with others remained present.
