Smart Meter: Pilot project likely to be | Agartala, February 23 (TIWN): First phase of Pilot Project of Smart Meter System is likely to be implemented within next six months covering a total of 44000 houses under Agartala power division- 1, said Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) Shyamal Kumar Roy over telephone today. “The Central Government has approved an estimated cost of Rs. 24 crore for the implementation of Pilot Project but the project details indicates that the total cost will be increasedâ€, said Roy. The entire project will be funded from Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) introduced by the Central Government, he said. Monarchak to start gas turbine soon, say | AGARTALA, February 22 (TIWN): The gas based thermal power plant situated at Monarchak under Sonamura sub division to come up with its initial generation of power soon, said Monarchak Project Head S R Biswas today. Besides, the Monarchak had faced a minor problem in the gas recently, while talking to TIWN ONGC Asset Manager V P Mahawar said that the ONGC has immediately replaced its filter in the gas pipeline with the new one to avoid disturbances in the gas. Mahawar told to TIWN that there was a minor pressure depression in the gas recently following which the ONGC has replaced its filter in the gas pipeline. Broad Gauge conversion: Lumding-Silchar | AGARTALA, February 22 (TIWN): The much-awaited Lumding-Silchar broad gauge project will not be completed by March 2015 as the Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) authorities are facing hurdles to complete the broad gauge project in time. According to sources, NFR chief administrative officer Ajit Pandit said they are facing a lot of troubles to complete the broad gauge project in time. The most difficult work is the construction of two tunnels. 425 metre work for tunnel No. 10 in Dima Hasao district in central Assam is incomplete and the drilling work for tunnel No. 12 started recently. The main function at the initiative of Directorate of School Education is being held at Rabindra Satabarsiki Bhawan. 2015 is the 15th anniversary of International Mother Language Day. The theme for this year is “Inclusive Education through and with Language – Language Matters". The day was proclaimed by the General Conference of the United Nations Educations, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November 1999. The United Nations General Assembly, on May 2007, called upon its member states "to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by peoples of the world." Pay-hike bonanza for the Tripura Minist | AGARTALA, February 21 (TIWN): The amended bill to hike the salary of the Tripura Assembly legislators will be tabled again, with the salary of the MLAs likely to rest at Rs. 35,000 soon. Along with the salary of the assembly speakers and deputy speakers will also be increased. However, the opposition bench moved against the proposal. The amended bill to increase the salary of the legislators was scheduled to be passed in the assembly recently. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tapan Chakroborty recently in the assembly proposed for 15% hike in the salary from the existing, while the opposition MLAs has expressed their dissatisfaction over the proposal of Chakroborty. The opposition later proposed for more than 15% hike in salary from the existing, highlighting their several hurdles. The proposal, once accepted in the assembly house, will take the Basic Salary of Chief Minster to a hefty amount. Whereas in the earlier proposed bill, salaries of chief minister was mentioned to be Rs 21,570, cabinet minister Rs 21,220, state minister Rs20, 700, speaker Rs 21,220, deputy speaker Rs 20, 700.
