Discussion on Annual budget ends: CM criticizes Opposition leader in his budget speech; Calls Budget as “Pro-people (?) Pro-poor Budget”

AGARTALA, February 21 (TIWN): Discussion on the Annual budget of the financial year had ended in peaceful manner. On the other hand, Chief Minister criticized opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman while delivering the speech on annual budget. Taking potshots at opposition leader, Chief Minister told that opp. leader while delivering speech on budget termed it as a worst budget. Still he does not mention the reason behind labeling like this. Nor Opposition leader suggested any alternative measures. Chief Minister further told that. “I think Mr.Barman feels frustrated and egoistic”. Even, in his party, he is being isolated day by day. That’s why besides suggesting any measures, He only criticizes the budget. No constructive and concrete suggestions can be placed by Mr.Barman. On the other hand, commenting on the annual budget, CM told that Budget is like a mirror which reflects the Govt’s reflection towards people.

CPIM Government belongs to working class. That’s why the budget of this Government should not be acceptable to the opposition parties. Focusing the Government’s intention Manik Babu told that CPIM Government always follows the policy of “Pro-People Propoor, nor pro rich pro corporate.’

Clarifying the details, Mr.Sarkar told that in this financial year budget the expenditure had been increased to 20.05 percent. Besides that planned expenditure is increased by 35.69 percent. State Government’s fiscal deposit is reduced to 0.17 in 2013-14 financial years from 1.48 in 2012-13. Special focus is highlighted on Rural Housing scheme. However focused was also being highlighted to give land to homeless and landless persons.  In TUEP, the mandays is grown upto 75 days.

In Tribal Welfare, the total allocation was increased to 9.27 percent. In Social welfare 22 crore rupees had been allocated for proper functioning. Among new items included in the list are cash subsidy, rationing of sugar, and bicycle for girls and Tripura Health Assurance scheme.

Though Chief Minister also told that the budget is not cent percent satisfactory. There needs more improvement. But inspite of that it is a proper budget with limited resources. The budget is prepared for the welfare of the people. Government should joined hands with people to create effective work.

Among others Finance Mi nister Bhanulal Saha, Health, Revenue and PWD Minister Badal Choudhury, Gopal Roy, Asish Saha, and other MLA discussed the annual budget which was started yesterday.
