Churaibari check-post turned corridor fo | AGARTALA, February 5 (TIWN): With the raising demands of narcotic items including phensedyl among a major portion of the people in neighbouring country Bangladesh, reportedly Churaibari check-post in North Tripura district turned as corridor for the phensedyl smugglers due to the negligence of concerned on-duty officers for a prolonged period.According to the local sources, a few of the sales tax officers at Churaibari gate are playing negative role over the issue. North East India's largest SOLAR power p | AGARTALA, February 4 (TIWN): The much awaited North East India’s largest SOLAR power plant today successfully commissioned at Monarchak. Monarchak Solar power plant currently generating 600 KW of power while the Monarchak is expecting to take the production to 1.6 MW to 1.8 MW by today evening. As part of clean development mechanism at Monarchak, the NEEPCO has installed the first such initiative in the region to tap solar power. Talking to TIWN today NEEPCO Project Head S R Biswas said that the North East’s largest solar power plant installed at Monarchak under Sonamura sub division today successfully commissioned power generation with at least 600 KW in firstphase. “We are expecting more 1.6 MW to 1.8 MW of power from the newly installed solar power plant†Biswas told to TIWN. He further informed that the solar power plant has already connected its power with the state power grid. Security forces in Tripura put on high a | AGARTALA, February 4 (TIWN): Tripura security forces including the Police, BSF Jawans and TSR have been put on high alert after two employees of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) were kidnapped on Monday from Mizoram. In the wake of the abduction, the police has launched a massive combing operation in villages on either side of the Tripura-Mizoram border to rescue the two, an engineer and a driver. BSF has been asked to increase vigilance along the eastern border of Tripura that is unfenced and often used by rebels to cross over to Bangladesh. On its first phase the NEEPCO solar power plant expected to generate 1MW to 1.50 MW of power, said NEEPCO Project Head SR Biswas to TIWN on Tuesday night.As part of clean power development mechanism at Monarchak, the NEEPCO has installed the first such initiative in the region to tap solar power. Talking to TIWN on Tuesday, NEEPCO Project Head S R Biswas said that the NEEPCO solar power plant is now all set for its partial commissioning from February 4. “During the first phase we are expecting at least 1MW to 1.50 MW of powerâ€, said Biswas.On Tuesday, NEEPCO Shillong electrical inspector has inspected the solar power plant site while the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd. However, Tuesday's decision of the Cabinet has again raised the issue of double standard being played by Manik & Co. Since 1998 state govt employees are having a horrible time as far as the dues of salary are concerned. Ganadoot triple murder case: Final hear | AGARTALA, February 3 (TIWN): Final hearing of the Sushil Choudhury’s plea against lower court verdict of life time imprisonment is scheduled on April 4th. On Tuesday, lawyer of Sushil Choudhury, Pijush Kanti Biswas appealed to the Division Bench of Chief Justice, Deepak Gupta for the suspension of the judgment of lower Court. However, the Court had not issued any order and scheduled the final date of hearing on April 4th. Earlier, here that the Court had earlier issued a notice in the month of August that if the hearing was not completed within January 31st, Sushil can again apply fresh for bail and the quick processing of the case. Reacting to this appeal the Division Bench of Tripura High Court comprising of the Chief Justice and Justice Subhasish Talapatra asked the govt lawyer Tapas Datta Majumder to present the state govt's reply within 8 weeks. And now the state govt employees , irrespective of political identities are regrouping among themselves to fight the case in HC. Bangladesh Delegation arrive Tripura to | AGARTALA, February 2 (TIWN):): 25 members Bangladesh DC delegation led by the Deputy Commissioner of Moulavi Bazar, Mohammed Kamrul Hasan arrived in Tripura today to attend the meeting on border talks at State Guest House .The meeting will be held Feb 3 to 4. On behalf of India side, DM West Abhishek Singh and SP West Bijoy Nag had welcomed the state guests at Akhaura Check Post. The other delegation team of Bangladesh team consists of Deputy Secretary of Home Ministry, Cabinet Division member, member of Foreign Ministry, Joint Commissioner of Custom and Excise, Comilla, Deputy Director of Drug Control Department, Deputy Commissioner of BrahmanBariya Dr. Mohammed Musauf Hussein, Deputy Commissioner of Rangamati Hill, Mohammed Samsul Arfin and Deputy Commissioner of Habiganj, Mohammed Jonailahuddin, Police Super and BGM members. Talking to TIWN, District Magistrate of West Abhishek Singh told that, the delegation team arrives in the Akhaura Check Post at 11.30 a.m in the morning. Tripura High Court issues notice to AMC | AGARTALA, February 2 (TIWN): The High Court of Tripura today issued a notice to the Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC)- Abhishek Chandra for carrying out eviction drive disobeying the High Court’s stay-order at Kumaritilla Lake area on January 22. Amid boiling situation, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) authority along with massive security arrangement carried out an eviction drive at Kumaritilla Lake on January 22, where many families were evacuated without getting rehabilitation. Failing to evacuate the land, the AMC had filed a writ petition at the High Court of Tripura. Subsequently, the residents had also filed a writ petition over the issue. Based on the petition, the High Court of Tripura had imposed a stay-order to AMC on eviction issue till January 29, the sources said. Even with the High Court’s stay-order, the AMC authority in collaboration with a massive security arrangement unlawfully evicted a major section of the residents from Kumaritilla lake area on January 22, said the court sources. | 02-Feb-2015 |
