UDAIPUR, February 23(TIWN): More than two hundred MGNREGA workers today gheraod Swapan Chakraborty, Panchayat Secretary of Gamaria Panchayat, for more than three hours. Gamaria Panchayat comes under MataBari Assembly Constituency. Today at around 11.30am MGNREGA workers including women gheraod the Panchayat Secretary claiming that they completed their works more than three months before but till date they have not received any wages. Now they are having real financial crisis. The workers demand immediate release of the wages.

The gherao continued up to 3pm. The agitated workers told TIWN that Panchayat Secretary assured them to give wages as early as possible. But the workers also warned that if their demands are not fulfilled immediately, they will make even greater movement.

  Meanwhile speaking to TIWN over phone Panchayat Secretary said," Actually the problem has arisen due to a new policy adopted by the Centre to pay the MGNREGA wages through FTO system. Once the system is updated, all the workers will get their wages. “However, he said that it is only one and half months that the workers have not been getting any wages.
