Six new sub-divisional hospitals likely to come up in Tripura soon

AGARTALA, February 22 (TIWN): In an order to revamp the collapsed healthcare services in Tripura, the state government is likely to set up six fresh sub-divisional hospitals and few health sub centers in different Gram Panchayats and ADC villages soon.To deliver curative and preventive healthcare services with quality to the people of the state is one of the top priorities of the state government as over 90 percent people of the state avail medical facilities from different government hospitals, said a source of Health Department. According to the source of Health Department, the six new sub-divisional hospitals are proposed to be set up at Panisagar, Kumarghat, Jirania, Mohanpur, Jampuijala and Karbook.

“The state government is committed to establish Health Sub Centers in each Gram Panchayat and ADC villages where no health service facility is exist. Against the requirement of 1054 sub-centers, the state government has already set up 1015 health sub centers across the state”, said the source.

The source further said, “At present, six 6 Blood Banks exist in the state while five new Blood Banks are proposed to be opened soon. Besides, two blood component separation units are proposed for in two existing Blood Banks at IGM hospital and Udaipur District hospital”.

In the state, Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is 26 as per Sample Registration Survey (SRS), 2014 in compared to 40 in the country, said the source adding that birth rate, death rate and the natural growth rate are 13.7, 4.7 and 9.0 respectively compared to 21.4, 7.0 and 14.4 in the country respectively.

“The health department has achieved a landmark in institutional delivery which is now 87 percent of the total deliveries till October, 2014”, added the source.
