On Durga puja eve, much awaited Agartala | AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): As soon as the dream flyover project was inaugurated in Agartala today on the eve of Durga puja, thousands of bikers, vehicle drivers rushed over the flyover on Day-1 to gather this historical moment in their lifetime memory. Although controversies were created after ruling party alleged corruption in flyover construction, but it could not refrain the vehicular to run into it to have the "first ever" ride today once it was unveiled. This is the first flyover in the state, which is flying over 2.26 km long land, stretching from the police line in southern Agartala to Fire Brigade Chowmuhuni in the heart of the city. Although BJP-IPFT led State Govt had alleged corruption but amid the investigation process not yet ended, the flyover today was opened for the public on Shasthi of Durga puja, proving the construction is stable. “Dibyang†students have inaugurated the project. Addressing media, DGP A K Sukla said, “Police are ready for ensuring peaceful celebrations of Durga Puja. This is the most important puja of this state and as per the information, so far 2459 clubs have registered under police permission. Out of them 869 pujas are going to be held in urban areas whereas 1590 pujas will be held in rural areas. Total 503 pujas are going to be held in Agartala and besides there are large numbers of puja are to be observed in houses. Police will also ensure peaceful puja celebrations in houses by regular patrollingâ€.“Total 9250 police personnel have been deployed like last year puja. Also Agartala-Sabroom rail project started during Manmohon Singh's Govt. It was under UPA Govt, after CPI-M's the then General Secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet raised demand of Agartala-Sabroom Railway connectivity, the project started in 2008 and land-acquisition started from that time, although the first train arrived in Tripura under Morarji Ranchhodji Desai Govt at centre.In 2006 over 125 kilometre was marched by CPI-M’s youth wing DYFI demanding connectivity between Agartala and Sabroom, says new reports of that time. Tripura High Court division bench Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arindam Lodh have issued the order. In the judgment it was written, “Instant petitioners seeking review of judgement which is not permissible in law and more so on the doctrine of merger. We hasten to add that the issues stand decided only as the Hon’ble Supreme Court granted liberty allowing the instant petitioners to agitate the same before usâ€. The court further stated, “State is duty bound, under the constitution, to see proper and effective implementation of the judgment rendered by the Apex Court. Amid controversies, Repatriation of Brus | AGARTALA, Oct 3 (TIWN): Setting aside the impasse over repatriation of 35,000 Bru refugees to their homeland, 233 Reang Bru refugees of 46 families on Thursday left Tripura for their villages in Mizoram, officials said."Under the supervision of the Tripura and Mizoram governments, the repatriation of the refugees will continue till November," Abeda Nanda Baidya, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of northern Tripura''s Kanchanpur said. He said 233 people returned to western Mizoram through Damchara (border town) in several vehicles, arranged by the Mizoram government. The North Tripura District administration provided food and security to them.North Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Raval H. Kumar and senior officials of Mamit District in western Mizoram were present during the repatriations.A Mizoram Home Department official in Aizawl said the Union Home Ministry recently approved Rs 350 crore for rehabilitation, after the completion of the ninth phase of repatriation from seven relief camps in northern Tripura.The approval came during a joint monitoring group meeting, chaired by Union Home Ministry''s Special Secretary (internal security) A.P.
