AGARTALA, April 5 (TIWN): Two senior officers of Kumarghat Horticulture department office were suspended for their alleged misappropriation of Rs. 6 crore in the horticulture department. The name of the two officers are; Hera Lal Debnath and Dulal Kar. According to sources, the two senior officers were unable to show the expenses of Rs. 6 crore which they spend in the name of horticulture development. As a result both the officers were suspended. A committee has been formed to investigate the issue, said sources. Earlier, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee explodes another multi crore scam in North Tripura Kumarghat Horticulture department office. Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman said that the Audit Directorate on the accounts of Deputy Director, Horticulture (North Tripura) Kumarghat observed financial irregularities to the extent of Rs. 5.23 crores for the period from March 1, 2013 to August 8, 2014 that is for 17 months.The audit report of the Kumarghat Horticuture department office says that in regard of procurement of Vermicompost the procurement valued at Rs. 26.00 lakh was made without inviting any tender as well as without observing codal formalities and without obtaining any approved rate and permission from the competent authority.

 Beside the procurement was made without certificate conducting of quality test and without production capacity certificate and manufacturing license.

However, besides according the audit report placed by the opposition leader the procurement in regard of the fishing net for fencing purpose was made without observing codal formalities and without obtaining any approved rate and permission from competent authority. The audit report also contains much other procurement.  

Sideline of other issues in regard of fruits plantation, the Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman alleged that when once the Jampui Hill was known for its orange cultivation but now, the deprived farmers have engaged themselves in rubber plantation at Jampui Hill. Beside the pineapple cultivation at Darcherri area of the state had almost faded leading to its low production.

However, but it is to be mentioned here that the state govt. has always been playing no major role in maintaining the cultivations under the horticulture department. It is also mentionable that the farmers of the state do keeps every hope on horticulture farming as it has a capacity to lead the state into a path of development under financial sector.  Besides, to mention here the central govt. has been providing fund to the entire North Eastern region under the National Horti Mission. Whereas, on the other the Tripura Govt. has been looting the money shaping it to be giant. And Rs. 100 crore under the horti department  still remains unspent with the state govt, alleged the opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman.
