Expressing displeasure over the decision of the central government, state Urban Minister Manik Dey on Friday sent a letter to Union Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for not announcing Agartala among the first top 20 smart cities of the country. Talking to TIWN correspondent, state Urban Minister Manik Dey said that the state condemn the decision of the central government over not enlisting Agartala in the first top 20 list of Smart city. Fire erupts at City slum : slum dwellers | AGARTALA, Jan 28 (TIWN): Massive fire broke out in a slum at Agartala Gurkhabasti area under NCC police station on Thursday morning. New capital complex OC said the fire erupted in ‘Gowala Basti’ slum in the area around 9:30 am. On information, two fire-fighting units rushed to the area and brought the flame under control within a very short time. It is not still clear what caused the fire, the duty officer added. The control room got a call at around 9.45 AM about the blaze following which two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the site, he said. Tripura continues to suffer under acute | AGARTALA, Jan 28 (TIWN): After experiencing an acute shortage of petrol over an interval period of time, now a board of ‘No petrol’ is hanged at almost all the petrol pumps of the city. Hundreds of vehicles were seen in queue in front of petrol pump for refilling their vehicle tanks. The actual reason for the dry-out remains largely speculative and the petrol pump owner is not ready to speak anything regarding the crisis in the city.It is to be mentioned here that most of the petrol pump of the city area running dry and a long queue of people is seen from the early morning waiting in the petrol pump to collect petrol. Hundreds of vehicles were seen in queue in front of petrol filling station while many centres had hanged the board of no-petrol.Majority of the petrol pumps in the state capital hanged the board of no-petrol due to lack of fresh petrol supply, forcing the desperate consumers to buy petrol from black market at a hefty price.In the beginning the shortage affected heavy vehicles requiring large petrol refill, but has eventually hit the normal commuters as well. As things stand, many trucks are on standby on city outskirts in demand of petrol.The acute petrol crisis created chaos among the state people.
