Sensitization workshop on Cluster Development observed

AGARTALA, Jan 28 (TIWN): Sensitization workshop on Cluster Development on Thursday has been organized at the Conference hall of the Shahed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel.

The programme has been organized by the Regional Resource Centre.

The prime objectives of the workshop is to discuss about the scheme of Micro Small Enterprise-cluster developmental programme under MSE-CDP, to discuss about the strategies taken by IIE towards cluster development, to orient the prospective stakeholder of cluster development.

Besides, interactive sessions for identification of new possible clusters in North-Eastern Region and to understand state governments prospective on cluster were also organized.

The Regional Resource Centre for Cluster Development was set up by the Ministry of MSME at the IIE in 2008 with the prime objective of developing the micro and small industry clusters in the region.

Since its inception, RRC has been continuously working towards the development of MSME clusters in the North East as well as other parts of India.

The RRC has its Nodal Office in the premises of IIE in Guwahati with State centres in rest of the seven states including Sikkim. The centre adopts holistic approach towards capacity building, providing handholding support and devising policy interventions in sustainable cluster development.

 The core work of the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship is to promote and develop entrepreneurship, to conduct training, research and provide consultancy for entrepreneurship development, to provide consultancy and monitoring service to MSMEs/ potential entrepreneurs and enhancing employability of participants.

In the interaction session, various new ideas and views on cluster approach were discussed and deliberated and about 25 such potential clusters were suggested by various officials of the industries department. Based on the recommendations the centre proposed to carry out pre-diagnostic study and start working for clusters in the non-traditional sector.

However, the Centre adopts a holistic approach towards capacity building, providing handholding support and devising policy interventions in sustainable cluster development. RRC has till date implemented 21 clusters across NER.
