Fallen tree blocks Assam-Agartala road, | AGARTALA, September 13 (TIWN): A huge tree that collapsed on Saturday mid Night blocked the Assam-Agartala national highway for several hours, which left hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides.Assam-Agartala National Highway has become completely blocked from both the side after a giant old tree as fallen over the road on Saturday late night at an around 3:00 am at Reshambagan.Motorists and vehicles are being diverted locally by members of the public at present after the tree fell and blocked the entire width of the road. The bi-cycles riders and the pedestrians are managing to crawl through under the fallen tree. No one has been injured in the incident, as the incident has occurred at the late night when the roads were not so busy.Reportedly, after being informed by the locals, the forest official did not bother to arrive on the spot and to look into the matter. According to the locals, till morning 9 am no officials had visited the spot.Agitated locals seeing no alternative took the initiative and started to chop the tree so that the traffic could get in to smooth convenience soon.“Where it is the responsibility of the Forest Department to look in to the incident, no one among the officials visited the area. Therefore, we had to take initiativeâ€, said a local. As the blockade is creating problem for us.The felling of trees over the road has even knocked down the electric poles disrupting the power supply in the area. CBI took both Directors to Odisha to unearth Rose Valley ‘s thousands of crores Chit Fund money trail involving many fake businesses. In March this year, the ED had arrested the company's chairman Gautam Kundu under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act for mobilizing public money without proper sanction of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. It was thereafter followed by a charge sheet. With presence across West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and other states, the company is alleged to have raised close to Rs.15,000 crore. The two directors Ashok Kumar Saha, MD of RoseValley based in Agartala and Shibamoy Dutta, RoseValley Kolkata were involved cheating and misappropriation of funds and was in long association with the group with the group's Chief Managing director Gautam Kundu. The firm came into the limelight following the Saradha ponzi scam which broke in early 2013. ‘Long standing Dispute over Muhuri | AGARTALA / BELONIA, September 12 (TIWN): Even after LBA agreement between two countries in presence of Prime Ministers Modi and Hasina in 2015, decades old dispute continues over Muhuri Char bordering Bangladesh at Belonia. PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury while talking to TIWN on Saturday said, “It has become a lengthy dispute between India and Bangladesh which need to be resolved fastâ€. “What Bangladesh is demanding will be practically a huge loss for the sub-division of Belonia, because most of Belonia will become insecure and unrest due to loss of land â€. Badal Chowdhury also demanded re-demarcation land according to 2011’s Indo-Bangla deal and said, “What Hasina and Manmohan Singh had agreed in 2011, Tripura Govt agree with that agreement. According to the agreement from the Shamsan area to Ballamukha if the border is made, the fencing can be erected along the middle of Muhuri river (of course after proper demarcation), which was a healthy deal , so State Govt. demands for re-demarcation of landâ€. Badal further said that this issue needs to be solved fast as its risking public security in Belonia. “Belonia is often attacked by robbers, smugglers due to lack of proper security in border areas, so the fencing needs to be done fast. Monarchak plant goes for shut down due | AGARTALA, September 12 (TIWN) :Monarchak power plant will remain shut down for seven months, till March 2016. Speaking about the shut down NEEPCO, general manager and project director of Monarchak said the decision of shut down was taken due to non – availability of gas from ONGC.From September 8 morning supply gas to the plant was stopped by ONGC, gas supply will be resumed after March 2016, Biswas said. “Having no other alternative, we have to go for shutdown†he added. With shutdown of Monarchak power generation have stopped, eventhough it was on trial run around 20 – 25 MW power was to be generated. The generated power was by TSECL. Due to long shutdown, there is change of power scarcity during Durga Puja in the state.If one unit of Palatana fails than TSECL will be in great trouble to cope the situation. Power minister Manik Dey announced power consumption during puja will around 300 mega watt. The shut down of Monarchak is a matter of concern for TSECL.At present both units of Palatana are generating power. The second unit is generating power four days back. It was under repair for some mechanical fault. The two unit never generated power for a long time together. TSECL cannot rely fully on Palatana, they should seriously think about alternate arrangement for Durga Puja .The commissioning of 101 MW gas-based thermal project at Monarchak in Sipahijala district has become uncertain due to non availability of gas by ONGC. Sabroom Judge attack : CJM court rejects | SABROOM / AGARTALA, September 12 (TIWN): CJM Court on Friday evening sent 4 accused to 14 days JC for attacking Judge Saurabh Saha, ransacking Sabroom Court. After 14 days of Judicial remand, the next hearing will be on Sept 24. CJM Court chaired by Judge Ashit Debnath announced this decision on Friday at 5pm. The name of 4 accused CPI-M leaders are: Bijay Dey, Biswajit Dey, Abhijit Dey and Abhik Basak, who are allegedly involved in attacking Magistrate Saurabh Saha and Sabroom Police Station OC Sanjib Saha during All India Strike held on September 2. All of the accused are members of CPI-M Trade Union, who instigated violence during the strike to close all offices, including the court. Manik Sarkar led CPI-M Govt and South Tripura Police was acting sitting duck till High Court Chief Justice (CJ) Deepak K Gupta visited Sabroom court on Sept 5, CJ condemned this ghastly attack on democracy, sent a letter to Chief Minister for prompt action and ordered South Tripura administration for prompt action. Sarengi’s sudden visit to state | AGARTALA / BISHALGARH, Sept 11 (TIWN): Joint secretary of Union Ministry of Rural Development Aparajita Sarengi’s sudden visit on Sept 14 to inspect MGNREGA irregularities in Dhalai and Sepahijala Districts created havoc in Manik Sarkar’s administration. Tripura is a state where rampant corruptions over Rs 500 crores in rural development schemes like MGNREGA are high in agenda, although state govt. claims itself for being awarded (actually ‘stage managed by fake statistics’) with 1st prizes in Rural development schemes. While talking to TIWN over phone, Pradip Kr. Chakraborty, DM Sepahijala said that on September 15, Aparajita Sarengi is coming to introspect various field works in Sepahijala District. Ms. Sarengi will also inspect various development works and will enquire about the progress of those central schemes, he confirmed. Sephijala Dist. which has been hit with massive Rs 51 crore MGNREGA scams, will be visited by Sarengi on September 15.
