AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): All India Women Congress (AIWC) General Secretary cum in-charge of Tripura Women Congress Shehnaz Haque on her arrival at the state here today called for an employment generation schemes for the women to become self-dependent and self-reliance. Besides, Haque on Thrusday evening claimed that the ruling Left front of the state has failed to ensure security and protection to the women of the state while the number of atrocities on women has been increasing at an alarming rate at the state with the recent report showed the graph down.
Speaking to the reporters here at the Congress Bhawan Shehna Haque said that the state govt. here has failed to bring the employment generation schemes for the women, following which the Tripura Pradesh Women Congress would be the first here to start the new chapter of employment generation schemes with workshops and skill development training for the women, so that the women of the state would become self-reliance.
Haque said she has come here at the state to rejuvenate the organsiation with an aim to strengthen it and to take it towards setting up separate membership drive for women. She claimed, “Historically Tripura is a Congress ruled state therefore we should not lose hope even if the CPI (M) is in power here.”
Besides, Haque said that the AIWC President Shobha Ojha is scheduled to visit here on the last of April or during the first week of May, while the TPWC will also try to get Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi here to hold a mass rally. However Haque will hold a series of meeting here for three days and will visit the ADC areas in wake of the poll declared to be held on May 3.
