Public Sufferings Continue in Tripura as | AGARTALA, Oct 19 (TIWN): Public sufferings continue as Bus Drivers have been in Strike on Day 2 seeking fare hikes. While agitating, the bus drivers, owners and workers have raised other issues also which they face while driving on road, specially related to papers and documents of COVID-19, Social Distancing. This issue erupted after State Govt through a notification asked them to stop illegal bus fare hikes. During the COVID-19 Crisis period, the buses went on with double fares and Tripura became the only state where without Govt's permission fares were hiked. It's not that the Govt has not hiked the fares but after BJP Govt assumed power amid economic crisis, the Govt had hiked fares which generated much resentment but once again, the bus owners in demand of fare hikes and had called on strike from yesterday. Tripura COVID-19 Death Toll raised to 32 | AGARTALA, Oct 17 (TIWN) At least 162 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura on Friday, pushing the tally in the state to 29,193 a health department official said. The death-toll has raised to 323 with four more persons succumbing to the infection. West Tripura district, of which state capital Agartala is a part, has accounted for 171 of the 320 COVID-19 deaths.Tripura currently has 3,108 active coronavirus cases, while 25,742 people have recovered from the disease. Twenty- three patients have migrated to other states. But so far no step has been taken to compensate the deceased family members whereas the State Govt had promised to compensate Rs. 10 lakhs to front line workers and Rs. 4 lakhs for the rest.
