International smuggling ring in Kailasa | KAILASAHAR, November 12, (TIWN) : Pakistan's ISI, Bangladesh's Islamic militants using Tripura as a transit hub for smuggling fake currencies, arms, contrabands since a long time. Acting on a tip-off SP Unakoti seized 4 bags of agarwood, fake Indian currency of 6,500 rupees and 2 Arabian currency from a vehicle numbered TR-02G-0425 from Bhagabannagar area this morning. Police netted the materials while searching the cars on the way to Dharmanagar. Police also arrested two persons from the vehicle namely Abdul Basar Barobhuinya of Katigara, Assam and Jalal Ahamed of Iajekhaora, Kailasahar. In the last four years, fake Indian currency notes (FICN) worth at least Rs 2,500 crore have been pumped into India by Pakistan's ISI to carry out terror activities. But what gives Indian agencies the worry is that only FICN worth Rs 455 crore has been seized. Of this, Rs 55 crore has been seized in foreign countries. Nationwide Bank strike hits operation in | AGARTALA, November 12 (TIWN): Normal banking operations like cash withdrawal, clearance, opening of bank accounts was hit on Wednesday due to 1 day bank strike called by the United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU) to press for wage revision, other demands. Near about 10 lakhs official and clerks had joined the strike from all over India. Banking operations in India were hit Wednesday as more than 800,000 employees went on a day's strike to seek a salary hike and other benefits, union officials said.The strike was total in some 75,000 branches of 27 state-run banks, as also the 25,000 branches of 18 private and eight foreign banks across India, said Vishwas Utagi, senior vice president of the All India Bank Employees Association. In the state capital Agartala, there was no attendance in the banks and a group of employees were resisting customers to use the ATM (Automated Teller Machine) facility .However, a rally had been organized by the UFBU, State unit on wednesday in support of the strike.All over India, some branches of private banks were seen open. Tripura MGNREGA: State Govt. unwilling t | AGARTALA, November 11 (TIWN): As per the new Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment (MGNREGA) Act, Central Govt. identified at least 15 backwards Blocks at Tripura following the 2011 census.Talking to the media persons on Tuesday at the civil secretariat state Rural Development Minister Naresh Chandra Jamatia expressed his dissatisfaction over the slicing of the fund allocation for MGNREGA for the state informed that as per the MGNREGA Act Central Govt. identified at least 15 backwards Blocks at Tripura following the 2011 census without any prior contact with the Tripura Govt. Udaipur : 3 rapists sentenced to 20 year | UDAIPUR,November 11 (TIWN): Within one year of a brutal rape, District & Session Judge Asish Pal today sentenced 20 years life imprisonment to three rapists ,who are involved in raping a minor girl of 12 years of Tuiharchung Maharani. The rapists are Hriday Jamatia ,S/O- Kanistha Jamatia, Surya Mohan Jamatia, S/O- Ratibhakta and Karna Sadhan Jamatia, S/O- Karnapada of Krishnabhakta Para of Maharani. On 2nd November 2013 at around 5pm a minor girl of Tuiharchaung area was going to a nearby market alongwith her two friends. But when they came near the Anganwadi Centre, 3 culprits Hriday, Surya mohan and Karna Sadhan forcibly took the girl to a nearby jungle and brutally gang raped her and left her wounded near her house to die.
