Agartala, November 14 (TIWN): The scheduled visit of the Tourism Minister of Bangladesh, Rashid Mennon to Tripura was cancelled due to some important causes. However other delegates from Bangladesh had arrived in the Akhaura Check Post on Friday afternoon. Earlier it was scheduled that both Tourism Minister of Bangladesh and Tourism Minister of Tripura, Ratan Bhowmik will inaugurate the International Seminar on Tourism, today.
The four –day long international seminar which is slated to start from Friday will continue till November 17th at Shahid Bhagat Singh in Capital Complex. Few days ago, speaking to the reporters at Hotel City Center President of Tripura Tourism Development Forum (TTDF) Ajit Kumar Paul said that to boost the tourism of Tripura, a four day long international seminar “Maitri Tourism-2014” and a road show will be organized jointly by the Tripura Tourism Development Forum (TTDF), Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited (TTDC) and Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development (BFTD).
The main objective of this seminar is to boost tourism of Tripura. Number of measures has been taken to develop new tourism spots and conservation of century old monuments of the region like Neer Mahal at Melaghar, the second water palace in India, Unokati rock cut images at Kailasahar and Pillak Buddhists pilgrim at Belonia by the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation, Ajit said. But due to some important work, Mennon’s tour was cancelled. But other delegates will attend the program.
Besides, delegates from Bangladesh, Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Pabitra Kar Member of Parliament Jitendra Chaudhury, Minister for Minority-Shahid Chowdhury, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dr. Prafullajit Sinha, First Secretary of Bangladesh visa office Obayedur Rehman, secretary of Tourism Department Ashutosh Jindal will be present in the programme.
