Agartala, Nov 12 (TIWN): Minister for Public Works Department (PWD)- Badal Chowdhury Wednesday visited the site of new Raj Bhavan building, which is under construction at Capital Complex since last year. After inspecting the construction site, the PWD minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the progress of work and directed the concerned department to finish the construction by the current Finance Commission.
After visiting the site, Chowdhury today conducted a vital meeting with the Engineer-in-Chief Sunil Bhowmik and other officials of PWD at Capital Complex and discussed on various important matters related to the construction of new building.
According to the sources, the concerned authority is planning to establish quarter for the Justices of the High Court of Tripura at the same place and to shift the Kendriya Vidyalaya from Capital Complex elsewhere in the capital city.
Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had visited the same site on May 28, this year and directed the officials to complete the construction of new Raj Bhavan by January 26, next year. He had also commanded to maintain the quality of construction. During his visit, PWD officials had assured him to finish the entire construction except painting of building by the December, this year.
It is to be mentioned here; the construction of new Raj Bhavan building is in progress by the Macintosh Barn Company since last year. This building would be established by the allocated fund of Thirteenth Finance Commission. An amount of Rs 30 crore has been estimated to complete the construction.
