SBI Kunjaban branch robbed: Robbers Stol | AGARTALA, November 5 (TIWN): In a daring bank heist, the Kunjaban branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) was robbed late on Tuesday night but the robbers could rob only two CCTV cameras leaving behind the cash as they could were unable to open the safe where it was kept.After the opening of the bank on Wednesday one employee namely Ajoy Kumar Acharjee noticed that one of the bank window was opened. Immediately the employee informed the G.B. out post police station. After getting the information police along with dog squad rushed to the spot and started investigation. A police official said that the bank robbery took place under the envelop of darkness. Taking advantage of the darkness, the robbers executed their plan and broke open the bank.The official further said that the bank heist was a well thought out plan as the robbers came equipped with all the paraphernalia required to carry out the robbery.However there is a conflicting version as to why the robbers could not take away the cash which was kept at the chamber of the safe.Interestingly, the SBI Kunjaban branch did not have any security guards at night. | 05-Nov-2014 |
Kamalpur Rs. 2.26 crores Scam : CAG unea | KAMALPUR, November 5 (TIWN): Another scam of 2,26,00,000 rupees unearthed at PWD (R&B), Kamalpur Division, where the money was embezzled by using fabricated documents. More seriously, the money was shown spent in the name of a bridge by using fabricated documents, though the bridge was completed long back. The fact unearthed in the report of CAG ( Report 1 of 2014).According to CAG report, the department submitted a DPR (Detailed Project Report) in August, 2006 for construction of a bridge over Dhuraicheera ( a local rivulet) to the Govt. of India. Rare species N-Nigricans turtle die in K | UDAIPUR, November 5 (TIWN): Rare N-Nigrican turtles death continue in Udaipur. Another rare species N-Nigricans turtle died in Kalyan Sugar on Tuesday. But without loosing any time the officials of Matabari sent the dead turtle to Sipahijala . Accordingly Sub Divisional administration is awaiting for the response from there. Interstate Drug smuggling ring busted : | AGARTALA, November 4 (TIWN): A joint team of East Agartala police station and Maharajganj Bazar police station on Tuesday arrested three drug peddlers and claimed to have busted an inter-state gang involved in smuggling drugs from one state to another. A total of ten packets of drugs were recovered from them.The three peddlers, were key members of the gang, were arrested from city hotel where they had arrived to dispose drug consignment. On Sunday afternoon the victim lodged an FIR in the Kakraban Police station and police registered a case (Case no-170/14) under Section 417/376/314 of IPC. It is learnt that, with the promise of marriage Hrishikesh Som (47) ,S/O- Sujit Som of Som Para Tulamura under Kakraban Police station continuously raped a tribal widow of the same locality and as result of it the victim Malati Malsum(changed name) became pregnant and on last Saturday night she was forcibly made to deliver baby. After the delivery at around 1am on Saturday night when the new born baby was not accepted by Hrishikesh's family, the victim left the baby in the house of Hrishikesh on Sunday soon after the dawn broke.
