AGARTALA, Oct 7 (TIWN): A shocking incident has come to light in Melapathar under Teliamura police station, where a woman's decomposed body was found stuffed in a sack inside her home. The body was identified as that of Sharmistha Modak, a 36-year-old resident of Melapathar.
According to reports, locals informed the police about the stench emanating from the house, leading to the discovery of the body. The police and forensic team reached the spot, and after examining the sack, found the woman's decomposed body.
The police have started an investigation into the matter, and the primary suspicion is that it might be a case of murder. The forensic team has collected crucial evidence, including bloodstains, cloth fragments, and fingerprints, for further analysis.
The victim's father, Rotan Chandra Modak, revealed that his daughter was previously married to Goutam Banik but later divorced him. She then married Gopal Modak, her current husband.
The police are recording statements from the victim's husband and other individuals. The local residents are demanding a swift investigation and action against those responsible.
The body has been sent for autopsy, and the police are working to unravel the mystery behind the gruesome murder.
