AGARTALA, Sep 14 (TIWN): National Institute of Mentally Handicapped, which is an autonomous organization functioning under Indian Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment with the primary objective of empowering differently abled children, distributed aids to the Children at Sukanta Academy, Agartala.
Tripura Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath handed over the aids to the children there.
The programme initiated with the support of Abhoy Mission, Agartala.
It’s worthy to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East’ policy brought Union Minister for state Krishnapal Gurjar, MoSJ&E, Govt. of India and Rs. 56 lakhs of aids and appliances were distributed among 526 differently-abled Tripura Children under Modi Govt.’s digital India project at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan on Saturday August 27.
Millind Ramteke, West DM said, “In Tripura there are 42,947 disables have been recorded for which 28 schemes are there and Tripura govt. itself running 25 schemes amongst them.
DM also requested for training to the persons along with the aids. Joint Secretary for DoEPwDs, MoSJ&E, GoL Awanish Kumar Awasthi said, “This is just the beginning of massive campaigning with 520 children.
However, in a meeting a Civil Secretariat, it was declared on Tuesday, that more children to get the aids under Central govt. scheme, and followingly, the programme was held at Sukanta Academy, where more distribution of aids were held.
