AGARTALA, Feb 16 (TIWN): Due to delay in regularization, Tripura SSA teachers who are going into retirement every year remain in extreme financial strains during their post retirement period — forcing themselves to go for any manual work, daily laboring or even TomTom driving. “This is really painful for the teachers after retirement trying to survive with small businesses or daily works,” said Tripura SSA Teachers’ Association members on Sunday while addressing media at Agartala Press Club.
The teachers’ body informed over thousands of teachers recently retired but due to no regularization — the families remain in trouble.
The Association members announced that they will go in a protest on February 21 and mass-deputations to be placed to the education department authorities statewide.
The teachers demanded implementation of the High Court’s order by regularizing the SSA teachers and withdrawal of the SLP from the Supreme Court filed by Tripura Govt against High Court’s order.
“Over 200 teachers died among SSA but no die-in-harness facilities or financial compensations were provided to the families,” the teachers’ body representatives said.
The SSA teachers demanded die-in-harness benefits should be provided to the deceased teachers’ families and all the teachers should be regularized.
They also alleged, due to no regular pay alongside no pay commission benefits like other teachers — over Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh of losses reported for each teacher since 2017.
The teachers body said, due to their uncertain future, the teachers are suffering from severe mental pressure — so the government must wake up now to stand beside the families.
