AGARTALA, Nov 23 (TIWN): Border haats of Tripura are the gaining ground in the bilateral trade with export volume swelling every passing month. After opening of Srinagar and Kamalasagar Border Haats states exports to Bangladesh has gone up. Two more border haats are in the pipeline at Raghna (Paul Basti) in Dharmanagar and Kamalpur in Dhalai district. District administrations of respective areas are in touch with Bangladesh authorities to select the exact spot for setting up border haats according to Director, Industries and Commerce VG Jenner. “Once the site selection process is over and the Centre releases fund, we will start construction of border haats in both placesâ€, he said.
He added, "To create infrastructure for the border haats at Kamalpur and Raghna (both in northern Tripura), Rs.5.80 crore has been sanctioned."
The Tripura Industrial Development Corp, the nodal agency of the border haats management, said so far around Rs.4 crore worth of trade had taken place in the state's two border haats.
On Srimantapur LCS in Sonamura subdivision, Jenner said the construction works have already been completed. Now, the new look LCS-Integrated Developed Centre (IDC) is ready for operation.An amount of Rs l 6 crore has been spent to construct a modest building (IDC) to facilitate bilateral trade and immigration service.
