AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Saturday while addressing in a cultural programme organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan laid importance upon the Indian culture along with English language learning.
"It's important to know English, but first we should learn own mother-tongue. My mother should come first and then others' mothers. So, in the same way my language should come first", CM said citing example of Russia, China who are least bothered about English.
"Building is important for study but at Santiniketan, Indira Gandhi like great personality had studied sitting under trees", CM said.
Stressing importance on the teachers' quality CM said, "Building is important but the environment of any institution develop via a good Principal and qualified teachers", he added.
CM also assured the gathering at there that Tripura will emerge as a model state and like King's era it will not be dependent upon the anybody just as now the state is totally dependent on the Central Govt.
