NFR and IRCTC launches “Astha Circuit Tourist Train” in NE

Maligaon/AGARTALA , Feb 18 (TIWN): Fulfilling the budget promise made by the Railway Minister, N.F.Railway and IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) have jointly launched the “Astha Circuit Tourist Train” for the convenience of people of NE Region. The special train is said to start from Kamakhya for Puri and Bhubaneswar with stoppage at Kolkata and back to Kamakhya.
The press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer NFR/Maligaon states that for the first time, such type of special dedicated tourist train is being originated from N.F. Railway. The proposed train is said to take travellers to a mix of popular pilgrimage destinations across the eastern part of our country at cheapest available rates which is said to be managed by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The note further mentions that such initiative is a very unique concept where a dedicated tourist train will be originating from Kamakhya for the very first time in the history of N.F.Railway.

The “Astha Circuit Tourist Train” would take tourists to a mix of various popular religious destinations, covering Gangasagar, Sri Swamy Narayan Temple, Kalighat, Birla Temple, Sri Jagannath Temple, Konark Temple and Lingaraj Temple.
The duration of the tour from Kamakhya and back is six nights and seven days, at a very nominal cost of Rs 850.00 per person per day barring taxes. Per person cost for the entire trip is Rs 6,161 (all inclusive) including breakfast, lunch, dinner, sleeper class accommodation and visit to various temples through local transport. The train number 00561 will start from Kamakhya on February 17 and end at Kamakhya on February 23.
The train is said to have various boarding stations including Kamakhya, Alipurduar, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda, New Farakka, Pakur, Rampurhat and Bolpur. De-boarding stations are Rampurhat, Pakur, New Farakka, Malda Town, New Jalpaiguri, New Coochbehar and Alipurduar.
Tourists who intend to avail the services may book the same online from www.irctctourism.com or through registered e-ticket agents or from any office of the IRCTC. Similar fashioned tourist train is also being planned to run from other parts towards Assam and nearby areas, stated the press release.
