AGARTALA, Feb 2 (TIWN): Keeping no separate fund for Northeast, the Centre has hiked more Rs. 7,000 crores for Highway development. With the attitude of treating every states equally in every facilities, the Central Govt has gifted Tripura with BG, 4 express trainx and already various ongoing projects as Indo-Bangla railway, Feni Bridge, double lane road ongoing in the state. However after Modi Govt came in power many projects had kicked off here, but under state PWD’s observation the work completion rates are not at all satisfactory. The double lane project from Agartala to Sabroom is left with only 6 months time to cross the deadline but till now 30 % of the work has not yet done. Apart from that Tripura to get more 2 highways in coming days.The Union Finance Minister enhancing the outlay for National Highways by 11 per cent to Rs 64,000 crore for 2017-18. Presenting the Budget in Parliament today, Jaitley said, "In the road sector, I have stepped up the budget allocation for the National Highways from Rs 57,676 crore in the BE of 2016-17 to Rs 64,000 crore in 2017-18."

It’s worthy to mention here that transport sector, including railways, road and shipping, government to provide Rs 2.41 lakh crore. Moreover, 2,000 km of coastal connectivity roads have been identified for construction and development.

Already under Modi Governance the national highway upgradation has began and the Assam part also have recovered. The driving over Assam-Churaibari National Highway will not face much tough-times like the previous years as the road is now in 90 % better shape.The alternative NHC road is also in good shape.

The Union Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari before the budget of last Financial Year said that till day the Northeast roads were left as orphans where and no one was there to take care of those roads.

Gadkari’s words are in action, although due to PWD corruption the works are not functioning in such manner which it should be.  This year before presenting the budget the Central Govt had confirmed that all the states to be equally treated and in every infrastructures the NE also get equal value.
