Agartala, June 18 (TIWN): Sixth phase of Bru repatriation continued for the second day today amidst severe non aversion of the displacement victims living in six relief camps in North Tripura district. Barely fifteen families were repatriated from Kanchanpur sub-division in Tripura today instead of 98 families slated to return on the day.
An official of the Kanchanpur sub-divisional administration said that thirty-three persons from five families were repatriated on the day. Eleven adults and 22 children were identified to have been repatriated from the Naisingpara camp in Tripura on the day, the official said. A separate source from Zomuantlang in Mizoram said that all five families were taken to Zomuantlang, Tuipuibari and Thaidawr for relocation.
Ten displacement victim families were relocated to Kanhmun. The ten families comprising 53 persons with 38 adults and 15 children were relocated in Zawlnuam, Kananthar and Tumpang.
A source in the Mizoram state administration, however, tipped that there were certain families claiming to have been repatriated. These families were denied to have been identified by concerned authorities, the source said adding that verification process was still in progress.
Over 37 thousand Reang displacement victims from Mamit, Kolasib and Lunglei districts of Mizoram are staying in six relief camps in Tripura for past 16 years.
