AGARTALA, Dec 19 (TIWN): Tripura remains no less lawless than Bihar or UP where smugglers, hooligans, college drop-outs rule the roost in state and assembly rather than addressing needs of common people. After 1994, almost with the gap 22 yrs Tripura Assembly had witnessed an lawless scenario, when opposition MLA Sudip Roy Barman snatched the sword of truth from the Assembly Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath, to ‘symbolize’ Tripura’s lawless situation under CPI-M. In 1994 it was the then opposition MLA Mati Lal Saha who did the same ting and following faced many criticism, but after 22 yrs again on Monday the same scenario was repeated at Tripura Assembly. From college drop-outs like Minister Badal Chowdhury or hooligan TMC, CPI-M, Congress MLAs or 'muscle-flexing' showman Sudip Roy Barman, all they lack basic respect of Assembly and democratic values.

The Assembly heated up with a CPI-M Minister Naresh Jamatia’s womanizing issue, which allegation was brought by his one of his comrade Joykishore Jamatia. According to opposition the ruling party did not take any action against the mentioned Minister and he is happily sitting in the Assembly. Another issue was raised about RSP leader Mrinmoy Sen who was given bail within 4 hrs, after he molested a 12 yrs girld-child. All these womanizing activities were accomplishing by the ruling party and with this allegation Sudip Barman seized the sword of truth from the speaker.

He was about to ran with it from the assembly but the marshals closed the door and stopped him. But after that Sudip Barman ran in another direction. In this even the whole Assembly ran to and fro behind Barman, which wasted a lot of time in the Assembly and after that no important discussion could took place.

It’s worthy to mention here that Tripura lawless situation has been the chief reason behind such incidents. From the ruling party to opposition 90 % are very less qualified, including the the Chief Minister. Ministers like Bijita Nath, Badal Chowdhury, Manik Dey who are occupying all the top most posts of the Cabinet in actual they do not have half of the qualification comparing with their posts.

Thus the Tripura Assembly on Monday witnessed a bizarre scene during the house proceedings as a TMC legislator ran away with the Speaker's mace, stalling legislative business.

After all these drama many important discussion skipped including Pay-Commission implementation and unemployment issues. The ruling party and other opposition parties highly criticized the incident.

Jamatia, however, strongly refuted the allegation and told the house that he has already filed a case in a local court against the newspaper.

Reportedly, since Tripura become a full-fledged state in January 1972, incidents of running away with the symbolic silver mace by opposition legislators in the midst of an assembly sitting has occurred thrice.
