AGARTALA, Dec 14 (TIWN): Blueprinting another hurdle for Modi’s push towards a Digital India, the trade unions under BSNL announced a day strike on Dec 15. Addressing a press meet the Forum of BSNL Union announced that the recent central govt is aimed to convert everything into private sectors and thus planning to screw the Govt organizations which has led the central govt to announced about BSNL towers to bw share by other private companies. So, the staffs of BSNL will hold a strike on December 15 against the Government’s decision to ‘end BSNL by fragmenting it to pieces’.
The entire trade unions are against the decision of the Ministry of Communications to form a subsidiary company to manage BSNL’s mobile towers.
BSNL’s 65000 mobile towers will be hived off to the new subsidiary company if the statement is approved by the Cabinet. But according to the trade unions, if BSNL’s towers are snatched away, then the company will die its natural death. Hence, the entire trade unions of BSNL have decided not to allow Government to rob BSNL its mobile towers, he added.
Targeting NITI Aayog it has been said that it is aimed to fulfilling privatization policy, which may cause heavy losses to BSNL.
It was als said that whereas Reliance is giving jio offer, but all are fake and temporary, whereas it’s only BSNL which could expand across the hills, rural areas and other backward places. Reliance also came under many corruption allegation in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s times too, it added.
In this situation, when the whole India is needed to be digitally connected the trade unions are in full wave ready to halt the move. However, it’s to be seen, how far the strike or protest would get back any response further, as BSNL towers were done by govt money and now the towers to be utilized as the govt wants for the welfare of the country.
