High Court Chief Justice launched E-Court system at Tripura High Court  via video conferencing with Dist Courts & Dist Jails : Modi’s ‘Act-east’ Policy in action with 3rd Internet Gateway, high speed Internet in Tripura

AGARTALA, Dec 6 (TIWN): Modi’s ‘Act-East’ Policy in action after Agartala was established as India’s 3rd Internet Gateway to provide high speed internet which enabled video conferencing. Although Tripura High Court was established in the year 2013, but within 3 years of HC's establishment, the E-Court facility has been launched here, which has claimed to ease the way of judicial system from now-onwards. The Law Minister of Tripura Tapan Chakraborty and Chief Justice T Vaiphei jointly launched the system via a long video conference with the officials from Tripura District Courts and Dist jails.

 The programme held at auditorium of Tripura High Court in the presence of Chief Justice T Vaiphei, Law Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Justice S C Das, Justice Subashish Talapatra and other senior advocates.

 The E-Court project was conceptualized on the basis of ‘National Policy and Action Plan for ‘Implementation of Information and Communication Technology’ (ICT) in the Indian Judiciary-2005’, submitted by E-committee Supreme Court of India, with a vision to transform the Indian Judiciary by ICT enablement of Courts.

 The Law Minister said that the projects costs Rs. 77 lakhs and Govt has further planning for expansion of the facility in sub-jails. However as nothing comes without money so it also needs investment, said Minister. He further said this system will save time as well as money of the public.

Justice Subashish Talapatra said that around 69 lakhs will save after the launching of E-courts as the vehicles, the scot all these need huge expense.

Vaiphei said, ‘I wish the system was during 80’s or 90’s when I was in practice. For a single accuse it needed 4 vehicle of scot which was really expensive I felt’. He further motivated all to utilize the system as without utilization and maintenance, the service can’t be fulfilled.

Justice SC Das said that E-Court will also help the public as it will diminish the Muhuri (broker) system. “Anyone can find out the judgment order by pushing the mobile”, said Das.

Chief Justice T Vaiphei also said this system will be highly helpful for the busy people.

As per the official information out of 15 court sites fully completed in 12 sites : Agartala, Bishalgarh, Sonamura, Khowai, Udaipur, Amarpur, Belonia, Sabroom, DJ Kailashahar, CJM Kailashahar, Dharmanagar and Kamalpur.

80 new laptops have already purchased and distributed among the Judicial Officers. However, for LAN Development initiatives to be taken, TIWN reported.
