SANTIRBAZAR / AGARTALA, Dec 6 (TIWN): Along with the whole world Tripura also celebrated 'World Soil Day' on Monday in various subdivisions, TIWN reported. In this regard Krishi Bigyan Kendra Birchandra Manu had organized a programme dedicated for the "World Soil Day‟ at KVK BC Manu under Santirbazar Sub Division in a grand manner.
Apart from good number of students, scholars and faculty members of the college remained present and the programme was also well attended by 56 farmers representing mostly the ADC villages of Santirbazar Sub Divsion under its "Village Adoption‟ and "My Village, My Pride‟ programmes.
Apart from sensitizing the participating farming gentry on the importance of soil on life and livelihood, the importance of water in augmenting fish production was also kept to be the main focus of the programme.
After deliberation of welcome address byDr BK Kandpal Assist Director ICAR Tripura Center & Dr K K Barman Scientist (Soil) presented an “Overview on importance of soil health and its conservation” which was succeeded by a brief question answering session.
Assistant Director of the programme addressed the gathering on importance of "Pond Health Card‟.
Finally, the Special Guest and the „Chief Guest‟ delivered their speeches on the theme and the function ended with expression of vote of thanks to all.
