BSF celebrates Raising Day

AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN): Along with the whole nation, on Thursday, BSF has celebrated its raising day in Tripura.

BSF was raised on 1st December 1965, when the need of separate border guarding force was realized and since then BSF is effectively guarding both Indo-Pak and Indo-BD borders of the country. Since its birth 51 years back, BSF has been maintaining peace and tranquility at the country’s borders.

BSF Headquarters at New Delhi is celebrating 51st raising day by organizing Parade and various other events. On this occasion Tripura Frontier of BSF is also celebrating the day all over the State. Various programmes are organized at all the BSF locations under this Frontier. Retirees belonging to the State of Tripura have also been invited to witness the celebration at respective HQs.

Every year BSF organises General Choudhary Trophy competition, in which one battalion out of all the BSF battalions is selected as “The Best Battalion” for the year. This year 159 Battalion under Panisagar Sector of Tripura Frontier is selected as the best battalion and is awarded with General Choudhary Trophy. It is pertinent to mention that one of the battalions under Tripura Frontier is receiving the honour of Winner/Runner up trophy for last three years. It shows the high level of motivation and zeal of BSF men deployed in Tripura to deliver their best in challenging conditions.

BSF also maintain good relations with its counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). Both the Border Guarding Forces have raised the level of understanding and friendship by various levels of talks, meetings and joint operations to prevent the trans-border crimes on IB. BSF and BGB exchanged sweets as a token of friendship and also conveyed best wishes to each other on the occasion.
