AGARTALA, Dec 1 (TIWN): A very important commercial relation has set up between NEEPCO and ONGC on technical grounds, which is to smoothen the ongoing hurdles facing by the plants here in Tripura. To run the projects in Tripura and many other hilly areas are bit challenges and the Memorandum of Understanding will bring a relief by expanding the changes of mutual cooperation between both the companies and also to strengthen the understanding of various project heads here. Talking to TIWN, the NEEPCO GM S R Barman on Wednesday, he said, “Among the 17 MoUs dealt at President house it was one deal which was done between ONGC and NEEPCO which is based on Technological transparency”.

Asking about the main objective of the deal, he said, “This is actually a mutual agreement of Industry & Academy; which is a sort of agreement where the ONGC and NEEPCO will go by research and to help each other either for any clarification or advice if the companies are facing during the project running”.

“Not only in Tripura, but the overall NEEPCO will be benefited from it”, said Biswas.

It’s worthy to mention here that there was a long gap of understanding reported among Tripura based ONGC and NEEPCO. Recently NEEPCO had suffered  a lot due to the lack of gas supply from ONGC which killed around 6 months of unproductiveness at Sonamura based NEEPCO.

But on November 25 it again began functioning after crossing 6 months of deadly condition. He stated that the plant will run from now smoothly, till ONGC provide the gas supply. This is one of the major plants in Tripura which effects a lot on the power surplus of the state, which was closed since last 6 months.

Now with the mutual agreement the problems will be sorted out in a faster manner and the Govt’s intervention may not needed after this deal.

Here the Govt was found not so much ‘technically expert’, and generally avoids the issues whereas the state suffers from major power shortage.

ONGC at the Tripura Power Company also known as Palatana Power Plant, is a thermal power plant station in Palatana, Udaipur in the Gomoti district of the northeastern Indian state of Tripura.

The Monarchak, which is located in Sepahijala District, runs on Combined Cycle Mode and consists of one Gas Turbines of 65.42 MW & one Steam Turbine of 35.58 MW each of BHEL supplied operating on natural gas obtained from the gas fields of M/S ONGC.

S R Biswas told TIWN “Monarchak there are two Projects : one is a gas based power Plant while the other is solar power plant. The technology in these two plants are quite different and diverse. So we have to maintain a busy schedule in coordinating different types of activities”.
