AGARTALA, Oct 20 (TIWN): Tripura left front Govt on Wednesday was charged by Trinamool Mahila Congress, after they held a press meet following a deputation placed before the Food Director of Tripura regarding the sudden hike in sugar price. Addressing the press meet on wednesday, Ajanata Bhattacharjee, Chairperson of Trinamool Mahila Congress said that ahead of Festivals left front govt plan-wise increased the price of sugar, when people are bound to buy sugar for the sake of festival. However, the sugar price which was hiked from 1st October reaped huge cash benefits to CPI-M, which to be continued for next 6 months, claimed Bhattacharjee at TMC Bhawan while speaking to TIWN.

Sugar price which has become Rs. 26 per kilo with subsidy it would come 23.40 rupees, but without providing the subsidy the state govt is charging Rs. 26 resulting the vougue profit of extra 2.60 rupees to the govt, said Bhattacharjee. As per Finance Minister’s report in total 2647 metric tons sugar are needed for Tripura per month and thus 2647 (metric ton) X Rs. 2.60 stands around Rs., 8 crores after 6 months cash earnings for CPI-M.

What will Sate govt do with that amount exta Rs 8 crores not yet officially declared so is it for Party campaigning ? or the sugar 2 rupees per kilo which will be given before election that loss to be cover with that money?, said Ajanata Bhattacharjee.

She further said during the deputation placed before Food Director on Wednesday, nothing he clearly mentioned, TIWN reported from Trinamool Bhawan.

It’s worthy to mention here that After Sugar price was hiked with Rs. 6 per kilo in the month of April, again Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha announced that more 4 rupees hike against sugar price from Oct 1st.

BJP also protested against the price hike announcement in the Puja month. Although the sudden price hike has posed a threat to the common people, but Govt.’s decision has not changed.

Now TMC’s charge is pressuring heavily on the Finance Minister of Tripura.
