West Tripura DM, SDM, Asst High Commissioner of Bangladesh were also present during the meeting.Modi Govt. had sanctioned Rs 1,000 crores for the mentioned project, which will kick off a connectivity flow between India & Bangladesh & it will be the first step to make Tripura Southeast Asia’s Gateway.

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu laid the foundation stone for the Indo-Bangla railway project during the inauguration of the Agartala to Delhi, in the presence of Bangladesh Railway Minister Mazibul Hoque.

The 15.06 km long tracks with connect Indian Railways with Bangladesh via Akhaura.  In 2 years of Modi Govt Tripura Got Broad Gauge, 2 Express Train and now work on Indo-Bangla project & alternative routes are underway. More projects are in hands as Agartala-Sabroom railway to connect whole Tripura with railway tracks.

India will build a 15-km railway tracks linking Tripura’s capital Agartala with Bangladesh’s southeastern city of Akhaura, an important railway junction connected to Chittagong port, resource-rich Sylhet and Dhaka.

An agreement to implement the railway project was signed between India’s former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Bangladesh Premier Sheikh Hasina during her visit to India in January 2010.

Modi Govt’s ‘Act-East’ policy utilized Tripura’s location and converted the geographical location as exceptionally ‘Advantage’, which was earlier considered as alienated Northeastern Part of India.

Tripura located in an advantageous position in respect of strategic, diplomatic and economic relations with Bangladesh is likely to become the gateway in tandem with implementation of the ‘Act East’ policy adopted by the Government of India, it was said by Nirmala Sitaharam, during her visit in Tripura.

After becoming the 3rd Internet Gateway of India, Tripura is just 1 step  more to go ahead before it becomes the South-East Asia’s gateway.

Everyone is just waiting for the Feni river project to be completed when Tripura can connect directly with Chittagong port. Modi’s another blessing in Indo-Bangla commercial trade will be the Indo-Bangla rail.The Indo-Bangla rail project which is expectedly completed within 2018.

So it’s visible how Tripura which was considered almost as a barren land or 3rd World-State, now getting valued in the world map with the Modi Govt’s excellent economic plans and his Act-East-Policy.
