AGARTALA, Sep 23 (TIWN): Industry summit organized by FICCI in collaboration with Tripura Govt. has ended as a flop show as both the Northeast Chief Ministers from Nagaland & Tripura were busy to throw bitter remarks to the Indian Prime Minister & Central Govt. Although Bangladesh Industry Minister thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his dynamic vision of ‘Act East’ Policy, but the 2 tiny States CMs instead delivered their political remarks. Whereas the foreign delegates came to take some input from this summit, the Nagaland & Tripura Chief Minister being anti-industrialists (Congress) confused the delegates with double meaning invitation. On the one hand they were saying please invest for NE, on the other hand, they were cursing the Govt. of India for Exploiting Northeast & in this way both of them before foreign delegates have been ended with verbal political clashes.Cursing the Central govt. Nagaland CM T R Zeliang said, “There are so many things missing in Central Govt’s Act East Policy. I request here present all the central Govt. representatives, private players to find out what is missing”. Manik Sarkar’s cheap brand of politics ruled over an important event on Tripura’s investments, Industry mobilization.

Nagaland Chief Minister, who is a believer of “Regionalism” ideology said, how many states are benefited from NITI Aayog? NITI Aayog may be beneficial for other states, but not for Northeast. However, both the Chief Ministers’ speeches were reflecting clearly that they after ruling so many years without being monitored from the central, but now they are in much troubles as NITI Aayog is interfering in their corruptions, by observing & keeping the dashboard.

Tripura CM also cried over ‘No Money’, ‘No Power’ to states, as the Central Govt. is taking the revenue & controlling the states with various boards. Tripura Chief Minister’s strict objection against the Railway Board, Telecommunication Board, NHIDCL were very clear from his speech.

Showing his frustration he said, “To develop infrastructure is not the responsibility of a state, but it’s a responsibility of the Central Govt, as it has various boards controlling states. State has no power”.

However, Tripura Chief Minister rightly found his colleague from Nagaland, who gave speech against NITI Aayog, whereas he was not present in Wednesday’s programme….where argument between CM & NITI Aayog member Bibel Debroy generated. How so much anger generated in Nagaland CM’s thought particularly against NITI Aayog ?.

Tripura CM referring Nagaland CM T R Zeliang said, “His speech has proven, Act East Policy is not a problem to Tripura, but for whole Northeast”.

However, Partha Satpathy Joint Secretary to Ministry of External Affairs, said even before both the Chief Ministers delivered their speeches, “Political Interference has become an obstacle in utilizing Act-East-Policy”. Sataphy’s remarks were right enough, as Modi govt although gifted Tripura Broad gauge, express train, Internet gateway but shameless Chief Minister here is calling the Act East Policy is Exploiting Policy.

Question raises, other states can upgrade themselves then why NE states can not? However, Bibek Debroy told CM Manik Sarkar that, Developed states are known for their strengths. So state govt.’s first duty is to upgrade own strength. We have many projects which can be utilized, as SMART City, project for Agriculture, Digitalization, Skill Development”.

He also said, NITI Aayog’s duty is not to do state govt’s works, NITI Aayog monitors over state govts works. “We have dashboard about how many villages are connected with mobiles. How much the quality of roadway. We have monitoring power of Education, water, electricity & everything”, said Debroy.
