AGARTALA, Sep 18 (TIWN): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East’ Policy driving huge infrastructures developments, investments which in turn generating BJP’s rising popularity. After winning Assam election, now BJP captured Arunachal but when is Tripura’s turn ?Modi wave has successfully established BJP’s base two Northeastern states out of total 8 states. PM’s Act East Policy has touched people heart, which is giving major jolts to the Anti-BJP parties. Assam was the only NE state led by BJP till in Arunachal Pradesh on Fridaywhen Arunachal’s 43 out of the 44 Congress MLAs, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, joined the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), which changed the political scenario of the state & BJP also occupied Arunachal Pradesh. However, question remains over the 23 year’sCPI-M rule which taking State backwards with rampant corruptions and looting of funds.-- How far BJP led by State President Biplab Deb can keep the Modi charm alive among people’s mind. Assam BJP State General Secretary Phanindra Nath Sarma while talking to TIWN on Saturday, said there are high possibilities of BJP’s shine in every states.

Asking him about BJP’s possibilities in Tripura ‘after Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, which is being ruled by CPI-M since 23 years, he replied, “Although I am not from Tripura, but I can say that Nothing is impossible for BJP !”. However, without knowing Tripura’s exact political scenario he didn’t make much comments, but he wished for BJP’s shining future in state.

It’s worthy to mention here that Modi’s Act East Policy is action, with its clear vision. Tripura after Modi came in power blessed with these following things :

1.     First Ever broad gauge service,

2.     Railway Network expansion,

3.     Delhi-Agartala express train, another express train work going on,

4.     Indo-Bangla railway project,

5.     3rd Internet Gateway,

6.     Fuel import via Bangladesh, Trainway,

7.     Four-lane bridges at South Tripura to connect the state with South East Asia,

8.     Assam-Agartala National Highway upgardation etc.

However, the Look East Policy (LEP) which was officially launched in the year 1991 during the tenure of Prime Minister NarasimhaRao, never came in action until Modi came in power. The 23years rule of CPI-M in Tripura has damaged the state’s economic structure fully, paralyzing the state socio-economic condition resulting with 7 lakhs of unemployed youths.

The Look East policy stressed on regional integration, reform and liberalisation, rapid economic growth and development of the North Eastern region of India, had gifted the state with massive opportunities of bring India closer to the ASEAN nations.

Now the transit between northeast India and rest of the country and abroad via Bangladesh is likely to become a reality in near future. Tripura is also well-positioned to become the ‘gateway to northeast India, southeast Asia and Association of South-East Asian Nations.

AfterArunacahal Pradesh, Assam- now BJP eyeing for Tripura’s Election-2018.
