AGARTALA, Sep 15 (TIWN): Agartala Airport’s strategic high importance is paramount since World War II when American, Allied Fighter Jets operated war planes out of Agartala in 1944-45 to counter enemy attracts and use as supply base to Burma. Narendra Modi led BJP Govt’s bold initiatives strengthening NE India’s regional infrastructures Railways, Highways, Airports. Union Govt started rapid defence preparedness to counter future attacks from China and International terrorist groups. Anti-national party CPI-M’s China love is well known as Indian communists supported China in 1962’s Indo-China war. On Thrusday, advanced Russian Jet SUKOI 30 has landed successfully in Agartala Airport as a part of mock drill to prepare Agartala a future Air Force base. Sukhoi flight landed at 8.30 AM and took off at 12 PM after completing drills. The IAF had, in August 2010, deployed its first SU-30 squadron in the northeast at Tezpur in Assam. In March 2011, it raised another Sukhoi squadron at the Chabua airbase, also in Assam. Sukhoi SU-30 combat jet was part of efforts by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to operationalize more air bases in the Northeast region to act as a counter to China.
As Tripura is under high terror zone and a threat from future Chinese incursions so Air Force preparedness is high importance.
Agartala Airport’s strategic importance was first discovered by Americans when during World War II, the airport was used by the 4th Combat Cargo Group (4th CCG) of the United States Army Air Forces Tenth Air Force, flying Curtiss C-46 Commando transport aircraft over Burma.
Agartala airport was used as a supply point from which the unit air-dropped pallets of supplies and ammunition to the advancing Allied forces on the ground. The 4th CCG operated from the airport during December 1944 and January 1945, after which it moved to Chittagong.
Tripura’s border security is very poor, also in cyber counter attack and intelligence preparedness is very poor under DGP Nagraj who is more known for his multicrore corruptions , CBI Chargesheets rather than skills in securing Tripura. Communist Chief Minister Manik Sarkar appointed such a CBI charsgesheeted corrupt IPS official Nagraj on purpose to keep State’s Law & Order preparedness at bare minimum.
In Tripura the lack of knowledge in cyber security has resulted panics. Not only terrorism but it has been seen that various parts of the state are being used as the corridor for all narcotic business.
In recent years, terrorist organizations have increasingly turned to the Internet as an alternative training ground for terrorists. There is a growing range of media that provide platforms for the dissemination of practical guides in the form of online manuals, audio and video clips, information and advice.
These Internet platforms also provide detailed instructions, often in easily accessible multimedia format and multiple languages, on topics such as how to join terrorist organizations; how to construct explosives, firearms or other weapons or hazardous materials; and how to plan and execute terrorist attacks.
In such situation it is quintessential for our security intelligence to be aware about the Internet based expansion of terrorism. Only due to the state government failure and lack of machinery in controlling the crime threats in Tripura has resulted in the expansion if terror at tacks in the state.
It is to be mentioned here that the platforms act as a virtual training camp. They are also used to share, inter alia, specific methods, techniques or operational knowledge for the purpose of committing an act of terrorism.
While terrorists have developed many ways to use the Internet in furtherance of illicit purposes, their use of the Internet also provides opportunities for the gathering of intelligence and other activities to prevent and counter acts of terrorism, as well as for the gathering of evidence for the prosecution of such acts.
Northern long unfenced borders with neighboring countries are damaging the security factor in the states. Recently, however, Central Govt. has asked the states to seal their unfenced borders.
