AGARTALA, Sep 13 (TIWN): Bandhan Bank on Tuesday felicitated Dipa Karmakar, for her excellent performance in Rio Olympics 2016.

Dipa is one of only five gymnasts in the Worlds who have successfully landed the Produnova, so-called vault of death.

She also won a Bronze medal at the Asian Gymnastics Championships and finished fifth at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, both firsts for her country. She had won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games In glassgow.

Dipa made history in April when she became the first woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics .She is also the first Indian gymnast to compete at an Olympic games in 52 years since Tokyo Olympics 1964.

Government of India conferred upon her the Khel Ratna Award in August 2016.
