AGARTALA, July 5 (TIWN): Addressing the a 'Sports Award Programme' at Muktadhara organized by West Dist. Youth Affairs and Sports, Tripura Sports Minister Sahid Choudhuri on Monday could not hide his frustration and said, ‘Although Tripura Govt. has provided all the minimum facilities in schools and appointed physical instructors, still surprisingly Tripura can not produce a single sports-star every year National Level competition.

He asked the Sports Officers sitting on stage that how many sports-starts are selected this year in school-lvel? In Minister’s question officers replied, ‘165 studnets’. Sport Minister asked, ‘Why the number is so less, why it’s not 348?’ However during the ‘Stage-Drama’ between the Minister and Officers, Sahid Choudhury said, “I myself is also a part of this failure’.

Sahid Choudhury also warned the Sadar physical instructors by saying, “I have observed teachers are working in  same school since 21 to 22 years. But being staying in the capital city, their performance is zero”. “So get ready to work for rural areas like Gnadachara”.

However, Minister further announced that Govt. has started to receive the Monthly Statement from the sports-teachers on the basis of their performance and they have to show how many students they have trained this month !

He also added, “I don’t believe in 10-15 days training programme, as without continuation all trainings are useless.

In 2014, 1000 teachers were appointed where 70 were Physical Instructors, but it’s seen that after getting the job they have become subject teachers, unwilling to go to filed, which is unexpectable’, Choudhury added.  He also said, ‘When salary is given they need the full salary, but in rerun they will give nothing’, he added. Choudhury was continuing his drama and said, ‘The teachers here may feel bad, but I can’t help’.

However, he didn’t forget to criticize the Modi Govt. and said the corruption begins from the central. There are so much of politics at National Level Sports, which deprives the talents of Tripura.

It can’t be ignored that in Tripura sports has been remained neglected even after the ruling by a same govt. since 23 years. In last 23 years Tripura’s many talents wasted without utilization.

Apart from blaming the physical instructors, what Sahid Choudhury contributed for Tripura’s sports-field?
