UDAIPUR, April 25 (TIWN) : The Old Royal Palace of Udaipur, which is popular in Tripura’s history for its Bhuwaneswatri temple and also the shelter of a great king named Dhanyamanikya who made the Tripureswari temple, is left life-less due to the negligence of the administration at there.
Kings of Udaipur used to live in that palace when Udaipur’s name was Rangamati. This Old Royal Palace is occupying a huge area on the banks of river Gomati at Rajnagar.
But it seems that the history of Old Royal Palace is a forgotten era, although if Govt. had take few serious initiatives, this would come under one of the famous tourist spots of Tripura.
However, it is to be mentioned here that presently, the retrofitting work of Old Royal palace is underway at Udaipur. But the work is very slow and running without proper planning.
Under the charge of DM Gomati the Royal Palace retrofitting work although started a year ago, but it is found that workers are working roaming here and there; and without complete one work, jumping to other works.
For example, before few months workers were found to retrofit the Palace, but now the work is half done and the workers are engaged inside of the Bhuwanewari temple ground to make a ‘road-way’.
Moreover, the present Bhuwaneswari temple is left half done since years and as a result during rainy seasons the temple area suffers from rain-water.
Although the retrofitting work has begin at Udaipur, but this work is progressing very slowly and there is no much improvement in the work, although contract between the company and Tripura Govt. was aimed at increasing the footfall of the tourist in the spot as it is one of the efficient spot in the state and relates much to the golden history of Tripura.
It is to be mentioned here that an agency named as Intouch is engaged in the retrofitting work of the palace. Apart from the retrofitting work, ticket counter, toilet and canteen will also be built in the site.
But there is no sign for all those works.
Tourists have already lost their interests since years and if it goes like this people after few days will forget about the existence of Old Royal palace at Udaipur.
