AGARTALA, April 29 (TIWN): A BJP leader named Kajal Das has been arrested after a video went viral on social media during an attack was held on a presiding officer during polling at Bagbassa. Physical assault on Presiding officer during East Tripura Lok Sabha Poll at polling station 22 of 55-Bagbassa Assembly was not revealed unless the video was made viral on social media. An FIR had been lodged against the BJP leader cum Jila Sabhadipati Kajal Das and a few others at Kadamtala PS under IPC 353, 332, 34.
As per reports, the BJP leader is now arrested.
This incident has resulted in a major setback for the ruling BJP amid BJP’s constant denial of voters’ suppression, poll rigging.
The opposition demanded repolling alleging massive rigging was conducted by BJP in West Tripura Poll and fake vote casting in East Tripura Poll.
Chief Electoral office stated that the matter is now under investigation and appropriate actions will be taken against all, who were involved in this crime.
The video shows, along with Kajal Das, some more people were beating up a presiding officer in presence of security personnel.
